The Ask
Evallo is a platform that helps tutoring organizations manage operations — scheduling, student–tutor matching, payments, progress tracking, etc.
The goal was to design a cohesive, user-friendly dashboard and app experience that streamlines administrative workflows and improves the experience for tutors, students, and parents alike.
The process
An overview of the methods and decisions that guided the project revamp from start to finish.
Target Audience
Tutors who deliver classes and need to manage their schedule, classes, payments, feedback, etc.
Students and parents using the platform to view classes, track progress, pay invoices, and engage with tutors.
Goals
Design approach
Information Architecture & Flow Mapping
Mapped out user flows for each role (e.g. tutor: accept class, mark attendance, send feedback)
Defined key modules: Dashboard, Class Scheduler, Payments, Messaging, Reports, Profile & Settings
Created route diagrams to ensure minimal friction and clear navigation
Wireframes & Prototypes
Started with low-fidelity wireframes to iteratively test layout and prioritization
Moved to high-fidelity prototypes for visual hierarchy, component consistency
Incorporated micro-interactions for status changes (class started, completed, canceled)
Visual Design & UI Components
Selected a color palette and style consistent with trust, education, clarity (e.g. subtle accent colors)
Created a shared component library: cards, tables, buttons, forms, notification banners
Error & Edge Case Handling
Defined messages and fallback screens (e.g. no upcoming classes, network errors)
Guards to prevent invalid actions (double booking, payment failures)
